We find that for many who travel to this remote region of the world, staying in a log cabin is the absolute Lappish ideal. Sitting in front of a crackling log fire and looking out the window to see beautiful snow-laden scenery is a remarkable experience. This is the perfect trip for those who want to be able to choose the duration of their stay and have a choice of activities.

Your accommodation will be in small cabins just a short walk from the main hotel. Your cabin will have a kitchen and dining area, a private sauna and warming log fire. The cabins have two large double beds end to end and above them are two smaller single bunk beds, accessible by ladder, making them ideal for adults and small groups.

The minimum duration for this trip is three nights and further nights can be added if preferred. Prices include flights, transfers, half board and cold weather clothing for the duration of your stay to keep you warm in the extreme arctic temperatures.

If you enjoy your days to be filled with activities then there is an excellent variety to choose from including exhilarating snowmobile safaris, husky sledding through frozen forests and encounters with reindeer. You can also hire snowshoes and cross-country skis to explore the landscape at your own pace. For those who are looking for a more relaxed trip, you can choose to add fewer activities and enjoy the peacefulness of your surroundings - curl up with a good book in front of your log fire or take a dip in the hotel swimming pool. The choice is entirely yours!

Each member of your party, who books 5 or more activities in advance of travel, will receive a 5% discount on the price of their activities.

Please note: This excludes cross country ski, downhill ski and snowshoe hire, accommodation upgrades and extensions. All activities must be booked as part of the same package. The discount will not apply to any activities booked locally.

Suitable for

Adults over the age of 18. Although these holidays are principally operated for adults, due to the gentle nature of the activities there may on occasion be children participating in the activities (5 years and up) due to our suppliers allowing those under 18 to take part in some of the activities. However, this is primarily during the peak holiday periods and kept to a minimum. There may also be children staying in the same accommodation during peak holiday weeks.

If you would like to travel with children under the age of 18 then please see our sister company’s website for further details – Activities Abroad

Luosto Tunturi Log Cabins

Luosto nestles peacefully amidst the beautiful fells, forests and lakes of Lapland and is the ideal place for a winter holiday.

The town of Luosto is very small and with only two hotels and a selection of cabins it really retains its genuine traditional Finnish charm.

There are seven ski slopes for those who fancy some downhill action on holiday and endless cross country ski trails for anyone who wants to explore the region at their own pace (equipment all available to rent and payable locally).

For those who want to take a memento home there are two small souvenir shops. A small supermarket is also available nearby.

Half board is included in your stay and will be served in the nearby Hotel Luostotunturi. The expansive breakfast buffet includes just about everything from cereals to bacon and eggs, fruit, yoghurt, the obligatory porridge and our particular favourite, breakfast waffles.

Your evening meals will include a range of salad starters as well as a buffet choice of main course and a dessert. Some of our programmes also include special evening meals which feature traditional dishes as well as some Christmas favourites if you are staying over the festive season. These may be served in the Tunturi’s Kelo log restaurant which is just a short walk away from the hotel.

For lunch there hotel’s Bistro restaurant offers a set lunch menu or you can choose from the other restaurants in the village.

A real attraction at the Tunturi is the pool area and spa facilities. The swimming pool is a favourite with our guests and there are massage and waterfall points, as well as a hot tub in the amethyst cave.

There is also a sauna wing with both Turkish and Finnish saunas as well as a small gym. The Amethyst Spa offers a range of deliciously relaxing massages and treatments. At the time of booking we will provide you with the full list of available treatments and contact details for the spa to arrange any treatments that you wish, they will be able to give you full details about each treatment and advice on which would be the most suitable for you.

Availability can be limited so we recommend that you book any treatments before you travel to avoid any disappointment.

Log cabins
The log cabins are just a short walk from the hotel. They all contain a fuly equipped kitchen and dining area, private sauna and log fire. The cabins have two double beds positioned end to end and above them are two smaller single bunk beds, accessible by ladder, making them ideal for adults and small groups.

There is also a clothes drying cupboard to dry off your winter equipment after a day’s activities and a useful lobby area for storage.

Linen and end of stay cleaning is included.

On your arrival day (if you are arriving fairly late in the day) you will enjoy your first meal in the hotel restaurant (usually a cold platter) before checking into your log cabin to relax in front of your log burning stove and enjoy your new Lappish home.

Our tailor made programmes allow you to design your own holiday. Simply decide when you want to travel and for how long (we recommend a minimum of three nights) then match your stay to the activities available below.
